SYNOPSIS
1865, dans le sud des États-Unis, en pleine Guerre de Sécession. Alors que les hommes sont appelés au front, Augusta, sa petite soeur Louise et leur esclave Mad, se retrouvent livrées à elles-mêmes dans la ferme familiale. La vie s’organise au mieux entre les trois femmes, jusqu’à l’annonce d’une menace imminente : une troupe de soldats sans foi ni loi, menée par le sergent Moses, pille et assassine tous ceux qu’ils croisent dans la vallée. Un seul choix s’impose à elles : prendre les armes pour repousser les assaillants…
