Crazy, sexy, stupid is a performance art video work exploring vague and pretentious experiences.

“Crazy, sexy, stupid” is a comical performance art film that pokes fun at pretentiousness. This experimental film seeks to exaggerate and capture the nonsensical conflation of a beautiful woman and a bizarre figure dancing in a black sack.

Humour, spontaneity and nonsense is employed to deconstruct an existence of pretentiousness that is prevalent in society, exemplified with a focus on perfume commercials or obscure performance art.
Although the work is really strange, the form and style should seem strangely familiar, as the viewer is confronted by a pseudo-advertisement experience.

A weirdly sexual soundscape with tantric music and voice over narration accompanies the images with a pulsating erotic undercurrent. The deliberately and extremely vague fragmented voices are seductive in order to confuse and are engulfed by sexual innuendo.

The superficiality is indulged at the sacrifice of all reason and sense, to create an experience of confusion where words and images are not being used to convey meaning but to give the appearance they do because they sound and look important.

The work is loosely inspired by the ideas of Dadaism, using shock and revolt against the establishment. Maya Deren’s chaotic images of a beautiful woman in Messes of The Afternoon have been a great influence in the visual style and sequence of the work.
