Broached Recall is a short film by Broached Commissions and Paul Barbera produced from 2020-2021.

Over five months Paul captured the gradual fruition of our latest edition of Broached Recall objects which incorporate the historical veneer archive of Elton Group ranging from the 1930's to 1990's.

Broached commenced this collection in the depths of the Elton Group warehouse, turning through dusty crates which contained about twenty five archived timber veneer species. The seven veneers we selected were pressed, sliced and embedded into boards, eventually forming the objects.

Each step of the production process enacts a modern grid template that absorbs and connects the habits of the past to the material technology of the present - a central theme to this collection, captured so eloquently by Paul.
