I've not seen Richard Linklater's film, Boyhood, because I'm getting to watch it in real time with my nephew. All children deserve to grow up innocent as long as possible, and it's our job to make sure they can. But it brings me a special joy to get to see black and brown children grow up innocent for as long as possible. Elijah McClain deserved that too. He was 23, but still as innocent and beautiful as can be.
