From August 23rd to 31st 2019, a team of 35 professional timber framers from Europe and the U.S. who specialize in historic hand-tool methods constructed a 16’ x 25’ timber-framed blacksmith shop for Mortise & Tenon Magazine on the rural coast of Sedgwick, Maine.
Every year this group, Charpentiers Sans Frontières (“Carpenters Without Borders”), led by François Calame, ethnologist in the Ministry of Culture in Normandy, donates their expertise to historic restoration projects around the world.
This was their first project in the United States.
