This solo, rooted in my personal stories of migration along with a collection of others, examines navigating the politics of being the “othered” body in a new space. The stigmas, objectification, exotification and marginalization experienced because of my (our) “othered” body within a new societal and spacial context. The perceptions and receptions creating varied levels of acceptance and access, which are rooted in the systems of hierarchy and the politics of privilege are interrogated.
À partir de ma propre histoire et de recherches auprès d’autres personnes, j’interroge la réalité d’être le corps « autre », dans un nouvel espace ou dans une nouvelle société.
Ce qui me confronte aux stigmatisations, à la chosification, à l’exotisation et à la marginalisation.
Les manières dont la société accueille et perçoit cet être nouveau sont le miroir de ses
propres systèmes de privilège et de hiérarchie.
