'An Existential Epiphany' is an abstract experimental short film with science fictional and existential themes. The film centres around a young woman struggling with depression, and the epiphany she experiences whilst having a bath. In the beginning of the film, the young woman sits in her bathtub, her expression vacant. She slides down into the water, however when she resurfaces, she finds herself still in her bathtub, and yet seemingly in an altered reality. Perplexed, she steps out of the bathtub, and is lured to the mirror by a glowing ring of light. Hesitantly, she reaches out to touch the light, and her hand passes through it, reaching into the void of darkness beyond. The young woman, having been transported into a kaleidoscopic parallel dimension, experiences an intense rush of psychedelic visions of a vibrant and vivid reality, depicting life in its purest and truest form. Pulsating, ethereal music immerses her in the overwhelming sensory experience. The woman becomes absorbed in this world of iridescent colours and hallucinatory images, a physical realisation of the life she yearns to live, existing just beyond her reach. As quickly as it happened, the young woman awakes from her existential vision, surfacing from under the water in her bathtub. The world appears as it was, but the woman is changed, her body now drenched in the vibrant colours of the life she is destined to pursue.
