"American Parent" is a feature film about a married lesbian couple struggling to balance motherhood and a career. Set in Chicago during the pandemic, Bernadette is an out-of-work sommelier eager to start-up her career after giving birth to Chloe. Stuck in the daily grind of cleaning up spilt breastmilk, her marriage to Elsie is tested as their finances dwindle and Elsie's evangelical in-laws want to get involved. Elsie has a potential job offer that could solve their financial woes, but it would require a move to a dry county (sans alcohol) in the conservative south. It’s a poetic family film showing everyday humor and everyday disappointments.
