Berlin. 1940. ARVID, a decorated German WW1 veteran is confronted with a malignant current of national jingoism. DIRK, his 19 year old son enlists in Hitler's army. ARVID knows that Germany is about to repeat its folly on an even larger scale. DIRK sees only honor, duty, camaraderie, and revenge. His uncle MAX, a high ranking officer in the Nazi propaganda machine, leverages his position to fuel the schism. ARVID compromises and works for the Third Reich in an attempt to sway his son. MAX launches and investigation into his brother-in-law's life. ARVID secretly joins the Resistance. DIRK is squeezed between two formidable forces and has to choose which one to follow. His lover, GRETTA, fall into the whirlpool of ARVID, MAX, and DIRK's passions and convictions.
