Riding by train through the endless Kazakh steppe, breathtaking Siberia all the way to Mongolia - an unforgettable experience. Not only because of the trains from the soviet-era, but above all because of the local people, with whom you spend many hours in your compartment.

We took the Trans-Siberian railway from Almaty (Kazakhstan) up north to Novosibirsk and Irkutsk (Russia). From there we took the Trans-Mongolian railway to Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia).

My wife and I are currently on a long-distance overland journey. We started in Berlin (Germany) and try to reach New Zealand - without having to use the airplane. This film shows a small part of our ongoing journey. If you are interested in seeing more, follow us on Instagram @claas_lizzy
