This is my semester end project for Film Language module.
I came up with the idea, drew my storyboard and ran it by my lecturers. Most of shots were filmed by myself. To film the steady shots, I ordered a tripod from Amazon and I used a Bluetooth shutter to access my phone camera remotely. For the rest of the shots, a family member helped me.
To dim certain lamps and manipulate the direction of light, I covered the lamps with thick towels, so that the light would only come from one direction.
To maintain the standards and the quality of the film, I removed all original sound flies as I didn’t want any background noise. Although I removed the original sound files, I wanted to be true to the originality of the film, therefore, re-recorded some of the sounds and downloaded the rest online and matched them exactly how they sounded in the original video.
To create blood, I mixed tomato puree and strawberry squash together.
I tried to keep every scene as realistic as possible, so drinking and pouring whisky scenes were very important to me, however, I didn’t want to drink alcohol while I was filming, so I used tea instead. Also, for the whisky pouring shot, I used tea in the glass, which I took in two shots.
I also paid a lot attention to where exactly in the house this is being filmed, what time of the day, the staging etc
This was done during Covid lockdown, so I didn’t have access to many things, but I was very pleased with the way it came out.
