This Sunday we are taking a step back in time to the 1960’s. Some of you might remember this period of our history and the many things that happened during this time. However, this was a time during the Civil Rights movement and our movie, The Help, takes place in Mississippi and focuses on the lives of Black nannies and maids. These women were often silent in the background of history. IT was dangerous during this time for them to tell their story or to even voice their opinion. This movie captures their stories, giving voice to a group of women, letting them know they were kind, they were smart, and above else, they were important. As we dig into the Bible, we discover what this movie tries to point out, we should not be showing favoritism and there is no partiality in God’s love, only mercy and grace.

For those of you worshiping at home or on the go there are a few options available to participate in worship with Western Oaks Christian Church. Each week I prerecord a worship service just in case there is some unforeseen technical difficulty.
