I've been working on and off in this animated short film for a while now. At first I struggled to find a visual style for it. Nothing fit quite right. Then, after I've thought the animation was complete I begun a really good animation course and soon, I learnt a lot and my standards changed. Suddenly I felt like I should redraw the whole thing from scratch. But I didn't. I'd rather do a new project. But I had to finish this one first!

So I looked at it with a new perspective and realized it was really simple, sketchy, abstract... But regardless of that it did the job of telling a story, as good storyboards do. And so I decided THAT should be the art direction to go for. Something similar to the Tootsie Pop owl commercial. It just clicked.

Hopefully, I'll finish it soon. Until then, this is the trailer. I hope you like it!

Ya hace tiempo que le doy vueltas a este proyecto de corto animado. Al principio no sabía muy bien que dirección de arte tomar. Nada encajaba del todo. Entonces, cuando creía que ya había terminado de animarlo empecé un curso de animación muy bueno. Aprendí mucho en poco tiempo y me puse el listón más alto. De repente sentí como que tendría que rehacer todo el corto. Pero no lo hice. Para eso mejor hacer uno nuevo. ¡Pero antes tenía que terminar este!

Así que lo miré con una nueva perspectiva y me di cuenta de que era realmente simple, incompleto, abstracto ... Pero a pesar de ello lograba contar una historia, como lo hacen un buen storyboard Y entonces decidí que ESA tenía que ser la dirección de arte. Encajaba.
