salt of the earth • A lockdown song, the lyrics of which I began writing nearly 2 years ago, finishing the chorus & composing the music in December 2020. Then serendipity, as January 6 2021 happened. Myths & (mis)belief systems have become the bane of peace & democracy all over the world, especially since 2016. To my mind, 'the eighth deadly sin is sentimentality'. We hold onto anachronistic myths & romanticize well past the expiry date. Words & music by Michael Reinhart. Lyrics below:
