Jason Tom Brown Bags to Stardom Judge Biography (Johnny Kai Voice Over).

Seeking mouth drummer for birthday party? Beatboxer Jason Tom is available now for event booking on Oʻahu!

Downtown Honolulu native and Kapiʻolani Community College alumnus Jason Tom is Hawaiʻi's two-time TEDx Human Beatbox keynote presenter, Jason Tom Academy founder, Jason Tom Blog publisher, and mathematician coach based out of the aloha state's Chinatown arts and business district.

At McKinley High School Auditorium Charlie and Lucy Wedemeyer signed Tom's copy of Charlie's Victory with Philippians 4:13 and that propelled him onward.

Hawaiʻi's human beatbox pioneers Radical Rob, Gizmo, Re-Run, and Joevon "J.B" Brown paved the way for Tom.

Jason Tom Academy mobilizes the next generation to "Say Yes to Purpose" through "Real And Powerful" "Music With A Message," beatboxing, and mathematics to build a bridge about perseverance.

Jason Tom Blog reaches over 2.7 million readers, households and mobile devices.

Tom is recipient of the TEDx Honolulu "It's About Time" Presenter Award, Hawaiʻi Scene Choice "Best Solo Performer" Award winner, Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award nominee, Beatbox Battle World Championship men's solo top 150 vocal percussion artist as team USA's nominee, McDonald's NextNext top 3 musician, four-time Hawaiʻi Slam top 12 poet, Pipeline's Got Talent dubbed "Hawaiʻi's Got Talent" top 4 finalist, Word of Life Emerge Talent Show first place runner up finalist, four-time Kapiʻolani Community College Talent Show top 5 finalist, actor in the award-winning "American Beatboxer" documentary, and was voted as "Best of Honolulu Weekly's Local Musician Deserving of a Wider Audience!"

Tom began his amateur beatboxer career at age six in 1989. He brings forth the voice music lineage of Bobby McFerrin, Michael Winslow, Buffy of the Fat Boys, Doug E. Fresh, Biz Markie, Rahzel, Kenny Muhammad, Elaine Chao, MC Jin, Killa Kela, Butterscotch, Naturally 7, and Beardyman.

When Tom’s Liholiho Elementary first grade teacher played the Moonwalker VHS, he sang the music, instruments and vocals to Michael Jackson's "Badder" by memory. Tom recorded it on audio cassette tape. He failed first grade at Liholiho, transferred to Kauluwela Elementary, and dropped out of Sun Yat Sen School.

At Kauluwela, Kawananakoa Middle and McKinley High Jason Tom cultivated reading, spelling, journaling, art, drawing, and writing as an amateur comic book publisher. He created "Gecko Man" and beatboxed on music cassettes until 1993.

In 2004, a SUV collided with Tom on a greenlight at the crosswalk near Shobukan Judo Club, Pizza Hut, and Liliha Bakery. He applied judo upon impact and broke his fall on the wet asphalt pavement prior to unconsciousness. Driver rendered help. An ambulance team brought Tom to Queen's Medical Center. Doctor told his family, "miracle, not a broken bone, not fatal." Once conscious, Tom was taken by a family member the next day to see the Passion of the Christ.

That 2004 wake up call inspired Tom's career move and that same year, in the pre-YouTube era, he began his journey as a professional beatboxer at Leigh Dooley's KCC writing class. "Beatbox Lobby," "Jake Shimabukuro jams with human beatbox - LIVE!," and "Listen Carefully" are his YouTube debut hits.

In 2005, Tom began his career as a mathematician when professor Mark Alexander referred him to be hired as a supplemental math instructor and peer mentor.

In 2006, Tom completed the Freeman Foundation China Scholarship program at Beijing Foreign Studies University.

In 2016 and 2018, Tom performed on 18 shows as the specialty beatbox artist in Prisma Dance's bi-annual Creation production.
