Hipposterous is a short film currently being submitted to film festivals. Created and directed by John T. Hill, the fully animated film is 3 minutes long, with a 1:25 long combined opening and closing credits.
Hipposterous is a loose homage to traditionally animated chase cartoons like Tom and Jerry. It is a celebration of absurdity, physical comedy, and the two children who inspired and provide voices for the film, his son Jack and niece Lovey. Hipposterous is traditionally animated on paper, colored and edited digitally. The style is inspired by the films of Ralph Bakshi and the "Xerox method" era of Disney features.
The film, as an MFA thesis, was also an opportunity to provide additional instruction and experience for BFA students John selected for their aptitude and interest in traditional animation.
