Peterson Toscano, a comic storyteller, is doing something very different with his presentations about sustainability and climate change. He makes connections with climate change to LGBTQ issues, social justice, and faith. In so doing lots of people are co-sponsoring events along with campus sustainability offices. Even more encouraging, lots of students are coming in the door who typically do not attend sustainability events. 

At a three-day residency at Swarthmore College the Office of Sustainability partnered with their Intercultural Center, Interfaith Center, and Lang Center for Civic and Social Responsibility to bring Peterson on campus to connect with students in classes and through his performance lecture, Everything is Connected—An Evening of Stories, Most Weird, Many true. Students who previously had nothing to do with sustainability work suddenly discovered they have skin the game; some of the things they are most passionate about are affected by climate change. Sustainability officers at Penn State, University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point, University of Georgia, Florida State University, University of South Dakota, Kenyon College, Dickinson University, and Villanova University have also hosted successful events.
