Mary Oliver is arguably the most popular late, great poet in America today. And "Wild Geese" is likely her most famous poem - which makes it, if not the most famous American poem, certainly one of our most indispensable. Its themes - loneliness, despair, hope, and the consolation she invites us to find in the natural world - could not be more pressing as we all come together to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.
Oliver's poem continues to give us hope and peace as we struggle to make sense of the ramifications of the coronavirus - and so we created this one-minute animated version, complete with illustration inspired by Henri Matisse, who once said, "There are always flowers for those who want to see them."
You are invited to download this short animation (for free) to use on your website, Instagram, Facebook, etc. to spread hope, comfort, solidarity, and flowers far and wide.
