Over time microscopes have become more and more powerful allowing us to see deeper into the world of the ultra small Scientists have come up with a whole host of new methods to observe far smaller things by using beams of electrons instead of light it allows them to see materials at the most fundamental scale, the atomic Wavelengths of light is an interactive installation that interpret different steps of the scientist’s practice of atoms scanning in order to improve our understanding of the structure of materials on this truly fundamental scale The audience is invited to place different patterns composition under a microscope to analyse irregularities in the structure of the particle using the joystick This two dimensional image captured on real time by the microscope is used
as a field of velocity to generate the movement of micro digital landscapes projected on the wall
By imaging these particles at different angles, the system is able to map the location of almost every atom and recreate a three dimensional reconstruction of the whole particles that can be observe in virtual reality in the binocular microscope.
