This is a solo choreography piece about our inner strength & being, when it is hard to “keep on going”. This piece is choreographed to Jhene Aiko’s “W.A.Y.S.”, which stands for “Why aren’t you smiling?”

This choreography project was the result of my Creative Final from February 2021, submitted for The Artful Balance of Business and Dance Program (@abbdcourse) led by Sorah Yang (@sorahyang). Through this course, we focused on our business/career development, as well as movement and choreography training.

We were given creative freedom to conceptualize a piece and create a treatment (pre-production plan), but the choreography was the focal point of the final assignment. We were provided one week to create the treatment, choreograph, and film.

I wanted to create something that anyone felt like they could relate to. Often times, where choreography is a focal point, the overall concept could be lost on a general audience. So in this piece, I kept the non-dancer in mind. This was filmed during quarantine.
