Vittore Baroni (Forte dei Marmi, 1956) is an Italian artist, music critic and musician especially known for his work as a mail artist, art curator and controculture scholar. He has curated art exhibitions, events, publications and collective projects in the fields of mail art, sound art, visual poetry, underground comics and street art. (...) Postal art, or mail art, is a planetary art movement, heir of Dada and Fluxus, based on the zeroing of hierarchies, on the equal comparison of experiences and on direct exchange free of any creation of the intellect that can be transmitted via the postal system. This study offers an accurate reconstruction of events, characters and places representative of the underground and complex phenomenon, illustrating the specific operating methods (stamps, postcards, envelopes and artist's stamps, etc.) accompanying the reader to discover the true origins of culture of the network.
