This is my first ever hand-drawn animated music video. A couple of caveats:
1. I'm not very good at drawing
2. I'm not an animator -- you could say that.....I'm a total amateur :)
But, I've always doodled, these kind of weird restless doodles, and I always wanted, as a kid at least, to make animation, it just seemed a little out of reach.
The visuals, which I worked on during this past winter (doesn't THAT seem like a long while ago), mostly late at night, are a reaction to the noise and insanity of a rapidly gentrifying borough..for those who live in one this needs no explaining.
Gentrification's always irked me particularly, for reasons that are kinda too personal to share here and personal reasons aren't really important in the grand scheme anyways. But people always make like it's a minor issue, trivial compared with larger things -- which isn't true! It's about fundamental stuff! Not letting huge conglomerates gobble up entire cities of living space. It's one of the most obvious symptoms of an astoundingly corrupt financial system gone amok, and almost always linked with racism/intolerance, and it's fucking horrible for the planet.
You don't have to agree -- just being honest about what motivated this ridiculousness.
