Pacific Plaza Records and Zoroarkfilms are proud to present: Vapor Pop! A compilation of songs by artists from the vaporwave scene with original vocals and lyrics influenced by chillwave, hypnagogic pop, and vaporwave aesthetics.

Over a decade from its inception, the Vaporwave scene has grown from a small crop of producers into a full fledged art movement- complete with its own visual/aesthetic style, independent ecosystem of labels and a robust community of musicians and fans. While numerous new sub-genres have emerged over the years, vaporwave with original vocals has been explored since its early days in the 2010’s by artists like 18 Carat Affair, Skeleton Lipstick and Whitewoods.

Now, a new generation of producers are taking up the mantle and making vaporwave inspired music with original vocals and lyrics, following in the footsteps of Dan Mason (who coined the term Vaporwave 2, an alternate genre tag for vaporwave with original vocals), George Clanton, Skylar Spence and SURFING.

These artists have been brought together for a special compilation, celebrating the diversity of sounds and talent the contemporary vaporwave scene has to offer! Each track is a different take on the aesthetics and sounds of the genre- pulling from a wide range of influences that have shaped the current vaporwave scene at large.

Whether it’s 80’s synth pop (Male Tears “No Promises”, FrankJavCee “Raining in LA”, Digital Sex “Damn Those Eyes”), soft rock (Dan Mason “Always”, Seth Nova “Third Eye”), plunderphonics (Sheriff Mario RPG “Mushroom”, Darien Shields “WAVES”), hyperpop (EchoDDT “shit”, Dualation “I Don’t Think That You’re Here Anymore”), hypnagogic pop (Skeleton Lipstick “Addition”, eccodroid “deconstruction of love”), these artists bring a variety of tracks that represent the panoply of sounds in contemporary Vaporwave. Other artists on the compilation include the English duo Donor Lens (feat. Jana Tyrell), electronic-pop powerhouses Eventual Infinity and Fake Fever, as well as J_ade, arttheboy, Cosmetics and Nanoshrine.
