Their experience, however, reveals a contradiction: in leaving a familiar world behind, they tend to carry the familiarity, their past, and all their memories with them. In doing so, they alter the brand new world of the new country into their past world, the one they are completely familiar with. The question is, why are they immigrating in the first place? If they are so attached to the world they are abandoning, what compels them to leave it behind?
