The site strategy was inspired by Kas Oosterhuis’ theories of synchronicity in architecture, and his notion of the bi-directional interplay between people and objects. The vehicular movement through the site was mapped and animated, which informed the architecture by carving out space. Crowd modelling was used, precisely to give precise quantities of people using the programme of the train station. These people were mapped as vectors and carved out the spaces of the terminal to create a responsive organic terminal morphology.
