This quote from one of the many challenged athletes in this story, is born from their desire and perseverance to rehabilitate their bodies and minds just to recapture the pure joy of being able to participate in sports. This lesson is one the rest of us should take to heart.

In a world that seems to punish the 99% of us that don't win when we compete, it is important to remember that being able to compete, at all, is a gift.
