TRIEB takes up the philosophical “problem” of body and mind dualism and reexamines it through poetry, animation, and movement. From the dawn of modernity, the logic of cutting and sharpness have been central to Western understanding of perception and cognition. Liza Baliasnaja performs a fiction in which the relationship between body and mind is substituted with the one of body and knife. She asks what does it mean to think and sense like a knife and what are the material consequences of conceptualizing thinking as cutting.
