The plain of La Mancha continues to take giant steps toward becoming the world’s biggest outdoor gallery and an essential calling point for art lovers. The circuit already has seven silos, painted in the municipalities of Calzada de Calatrava, Corral de Calatrava, La Solana, Malagón, Manzanares and, most recently, Herencia.

It’s on the enormous silo in Herencia, visible for miles around and set against the iconic backdrop of windmills, that Fintan Magee has left his mark, the fruit of his first opportunity in Spain. Famous for his blend of hyperrealism that mixes social themes with ecology, and inspired by the local climate and landscape (“there’s something dreamlike about open and empty spaces like this”), the Australian has sought to capture his motivation for participating in Titanes on three of the walls of the silo.

Fintan has depicted a number of human figures for posterity: “two of the local social workers and one of the people who works with them”, members of Laborvalía. It’s another example of the inclusion of people with disabilities who have again actively participated in the artistic intervention on the silo. The images speak for themselves in terms of the quality and commitment of the intervention.

The Titanes project is the fruit of a collaboration between the Provincial Government of Ciudad Real, Laborvalía and the creative team behind the artist Okuda San Miguel, Ink and Movement. Get ready for the third phase, which starts at the end of June with the intervention of the Austrian artist Nychos.

La llanura manchega sigue dando pasos de gigante para convertirse en el mayor museo al aire libre del mundo y en destino obligado para todos los amantes del arte. Ya se puede disfrutar de un circuito por los 7 silos pintados hasta la fecha en las localidades de Calzada de Calatrava, Corral de Calatrava, La Solana, Malagón, Manzanares y, finalmente, Herencia.

Es sobre el enorme silo de Herencia, visible desde kilómetros a la redonda con la icónica imagen de unos molinos de viento a su espalda, donde Fintan Magee nos ha dejado una intervención para el recuerdo en su primera oportunidad en España. Conocido por su hiperrealismo de carácter social y tintes ecologistas, e inspirado por el clima y el paisaje local (“hay algo ensoñador en espacios abiertos y vacíos como este”), el australiano ha querido impregnar tres de las paredes del silo con el por qué de su participación en Titanes bajo el título “House of giants”.

Fintan ha plasmado para la posteridad otras tantas figuras humanas, “dos trabajadores sociales locales y uno de los chicos que trabajan con ellas”, miembros de Laborvalía. Se trata por tanto de un nuevo caso práctico de inclusión de personas con discapacidad, quienes han vuelto a participar de manera activa en la intervención artística del silo. Las imágenes hablan por si solas de la calidad y compromiso de la misma.

Titanes es un proyecto fruto de la colaboración entre la Diputación de Ciudad Real, la asociación Laborvalía y el equipo creativo del artista Okuda San Miguel, Ink and Movement cuya tercera etapa dará comienzo a finales de junio con la participación del artista austriaco Nychos.
