This was a poster animation piece created in response to the drought and 2019/20 fires effecting Australia. One of the roles home has played in my life for awhile now is its ability to heal, to ground and give space for reflection. This is because it was a rich natural environment filled with life. But the wearying of the natural environment due to the harsh conditions it has faced, exacerbated by climate change. It has itself changed. With the change there is a heaviness and stress that now sits in the hearts of those connected to the land.
Even now with the recent rains no one quite trusts it will stay. There is no relief.
This illustration piece incorporates a subtle piece of animation, to further enrich the story. It also blends different textures and lines to layer aspects of the natural environment.
