Exploring the notions of this invisible ‘Life Force’ that may occupy our physical spaces, Élan Vital uses interactive light artefacts interacting and responding to human movement. Employing elementary computer vision to capture human motion, data is parsed into three dimensional volumes using the technique of ray marching and illuminated onto reconfigurable spatial constructs.
An abstraction of our perception of spatial experience through light, this final graduate project is a culmination of a series of explorations of our interaction with the environment and the environment’s interaction with us.
