This Maya animation project was created as a Final for DTC 335: Animation, Story, Narration, and Production in the Creative Media & Digital Culture program at Washington State University – Vancouver.
Our team was tasked with creating a 1-1:30 minute Maya animation that demonstrates our modeling and animation skills, narrative arc and conflict, and is based upon the thematic elements of a game of Chess. After multiple Storyboard iterations, our team decided to combine the conflict and character models of chess, with the conflict and physicality of Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em robots (later iterations turned the animation into Wii boxing match). The intro and outro of the animation demonstrate that the entire boxing scene is within the constraints of a video game.
