My short video loop "The End" is an edited appropriated clip I created from Disney's Cinderella. In project two I wanted to continue the use of the looped video or "extended gif." In this piece, I illustrate the distorted view of relationships that childhood media portrayed and ingrained in my mind. Films like Cinderella and Snow White show a very warped concept of what real love is. A narrative that has been recycled and revisited in collective memory. Specifically, how an intense and true love can somehow play out in an hour and thirty minutes. An unreasonable reflection on how things work in the real world. Seeing these stories play out wrote a false narrative of love. The video serves as a "correction" to that narrative. It shows the corruption and imperfection that truly exists, the crash after the sugar high. I used a hex editor to corrupt the actual data in the file as well as layers of video filters to correct, re-distort, and rewrite my own version of Cinderella.
