This week's Campaign video is about the Defense Production Act. We have a "Defense Production Act", which could ramp up production of masks, ventilators and other needed tools needed to fight the CoronaVirus nationwide.
The DPA didn't exist when FDR was President. He just did it on his own. He was a man of action. When the Korean War broke out, the DPA was created by another Democrat President, Harry Truman on September 8, 1950.
Sadly today, we have ineffectual and incompetent leadership. President Trump could have used the DPA last January when Covid-19 was breaking out of South Korea, and was clearly headed this way. But he failed to act. Instead he played down the threat, endangering millions of Americans.
Three months into this, in March 2020, Trump still has not enacted the DPA. And his son-in-law, Jared Kushner announced Thursday (04-02-2020) that the National Stockpile ".. is supposed to be our stockpile. It's not supposed to be the state stockpiles that they then use".
