“The Beast” is a short film that wants to analyze some potential of 3D modeling and animating program “Blender”. During the whole video, the subject runs through different natural obstacles. The project was developed in four different steps: modeling, animation, effects and sound. Starting from a mannequin model, the hairs were created through the usage of particle systems to give them the shape of a real fur, for which were chosen different colors to bring out the movement effect. After this, we looked at the character’s movement, generated by his skeleton. In particular, the most important part was the movement of the limbs and torso, that give an effective “run-effect” to the entire body.
The effects created with particle systems and force fields (wind, water and smoke) have been included subsequently and animated to let the character pass through them during the run, in order to see the reaction of the natural obstacles to his passage. At the end, the sound effects have been included to make all the video more realistic.
