Congratulations on downloading the 12 Week Planner. You've just taken an important step into making massive progress in the next few months.

The reason this works is simple. Most of us make plans for the year - but 12 months is much too long a time for our brains to remain engaged. So after a couple of months, we lose track, we lose all urgency and things start to drift.

The idea of this planner is different. We're not going to make a plan for the whole year. Instead, we're going to compress 12 months into just 12 weeks.

Why does this make a difference? Because 3 months is a good timeframe for our brains. It's short enough that it holds our attention, but long enough that we can make huge strides forwards.

However, that alone isn't enough. On top of that, we also take our goals and we break them down into individual tasks. This can sometimes be tricky, but it's really important - if we don't know what we have to do to achieve that goal, then how are we going to get there?

So the easiest thing to do is to work backwards from the goal.

Let's say you want to get an extra £10000 in sales. How many new clients does that require? Well, if each client pays £1000 each, then we need 10 new clients.

How many meetings does that require? Well, if we get one new client after every 3 meetings then we need to have 30 meetings.

How many networking events do we have to go to? Well, if we get one meeting from every networking event we go to, then we need to go networking 30 times.

30 networking events over the course of 12 weeks - that's almost 3 events per week.

And there we have something that we can add to our list. If we want to get £10000 in extra sales by three months time, we need to go to 3 networking events each week. As we need to do 3 events every week, it counts as 12 tasks - one per week.

And that might be enough for our primary goal. 12 tasks, over the course of the next 12 weeks might get us there.

Or maybe there's more we need to do - in which case, once again, we work backwards from our primary goal and decide what those tasks are.

We can then repeat the entire process for our secondary goals - but this is important. Don't add too many tasks to your list. Remember, life is going to get in the way, so we don't want more than 4 tasks to complete per week.

So we have 24 tasks for our primary goal, and then 12 tasks for each of our two secondary goals. No more than 48 tasks for the whole 3 month period.

That way we should be able to stick to our goals and get everything else done at the same time.

Of course, the really tricky bit with all of this is staying on track. It's one thing to have a plan, it's entirely another to actually get it done.
