Ten Collaborative Projects by Twenty Artists

In January 2018 I engaged in a movement dialogue as a form of cultural exchange with a dancer from Philadelphia at FOMMA Trust Karachi for an exhibition called EST & UTC + 5.

Named after the technical time zones where the artists are located, EST & UTC +5 brings together 10 artists from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and 10 artists from Karachi, Pakistan, in an effort to connect across time and space through the universal language of art.

For one month, I explored how the body exists & communicates in place and space. Public & Private.

Through videos captured from my live exhibition, I will be sharing my MOVEMENT LANGUAGE that illuminate elements of my respective emotional and cultural landscape.

I will be releasing a series of videos throughout next week as a form of furthering the dialogue.

Shaanay Mansur is originally a freestyle artist who has been training in Street Dance since the past 5 years. She has used the dynamic genres within this discipline to explore the female body as an outlet of the feminine experience and the emotions that come with it. Currently she teaches streetdance at various studios and aims to train people to embrace their physical selves through movement. She is also a trained broadcast journalist and aims to create dance content in the future.
