Television Without Frontiers is film and a documentary performance in TV format that seek to understand the meaning of “common ground” in a contemporary European situation. The outset is a project called “Eurikon”, which was an attempt to construct a trans-national public service network in 1982. Television Without Frontiers brings together a number of TV and media personalities from across Europe and beyond, engaged in multi-language conversations. The scene also consists of a choir of interpreters, an orchestra, an audience, a giant turtle which is being assembled and inflated, archive footage, a hypnotist, and every now and then an ice cream vendor tells a passage from a mythic back-story. In an exhilarating atmosphere shifting between the past and the present, reality and imagination, full of unexpected turns, they investigate how Eurikon might be used as a model to find out what happened to the visions of a post-national community.
