The "Teatro Sin Fronteras / Taco Truck Theater" was a seven-part series developed for the 10th post-Katrina anniversary of the storm in 2010. Funded by Alternate ROOTS' Partners in Action Program, it was produced by José Torres-Tama & ArteFuturo Productions in partnership with PUENTES New Orleans to celebrate our Latin American performers, dancers, and musicians, who have contributed to the cultural renaissance of the rebirth of a once devastated port city. Our people are often neglected and forgotten, and we honored our Latin immigrant community that has given of their blood, labor, and love to the rebuild New Orleans. In this short doc, we open with the amazing Maritza Mercado-Narcisse performing an original choreographed movement; JTT performs an "Ode to Immigrant Women" of the reconstruction, Denise Frazier violinist with offers a musical tribute to immigrant workers, Rudy Mills, a Black Honduran poet and musician singing "Angola Bound," the Congress of Day Laborers immigrant activist group speaking to the labor the community has offered, and finishes with José Fermin Ceballos singing an improvised "Teatro Sin Fronteras" tune. Filmed and edited by Yves Elizalde and Orestes Montero Cruz.
