Produzidos por Renata Cruz, a série de desenhos Taoca documenta o movimento das formigas de correição pela floresta Amazônica e as diversas espécies de animais que as seguem. A palavra, que vem de taóka em tupi, designa formigas carnívoras que se deslocam em grande quantidade pelo chão e troncos da floresta em busca de alimentos, atraindo pássaros, borboletas e muitos outros insetos, numa rede de interação de aproximadamente 500 espécies.
A relação que os seres humanos estabelecem com os seres e o tempo da natureza também está presente nesta série de desenhos através de fragmentos de textos, falas científicas e conversas com habitantes da floresta.
O trabalho deseja apresentar por meio das imagens da taoca uma metáfora sobre como funciona a floresta. Valendo-se da analogia com as formigas de correição que ao menor distúrbio se desorganizam e desaparecem, o trabalho também propõe uma reflexão sobre a nossa interdependência e vulnerabilidade frente ao processo de destruição da Floresta Amazônica que atualmente atravessamos.

Taoca is a series of drawings that start from the movement of the army ants in the Amazon rainforest and the different species of animals that follow them. The word, which comes from taóka in Tupi, designates carnivorous ants that move in large quantities on the forest trunks and floor in search for food, attracting birds, butterflies and many other insects, in an interaction network of approximately 500 species.
The relationship between humans and beings and the time of nature is also present in this series of drawings through fragments of texts, scientific talks and conversations with forest inhabitants.
The work aims to present, through the images of the taoca, a metaphor about how the forest works. Depart from the analogy with the army ants that disorganize and disappear with the slightest disturbance, the work also proposes a reflection on our interdependence and vulnerability in the face of the process of the Amazon forest destruction.
