String Theory
Written and Conceived by Nehprii Amenii
Created in collaboration with the performers Jimmica Collins, Charlotte Lily Gaspard, Cloteal Horne, Gerson Lanza, Danysha Ligon, and Sikhanyisiwe Sifiso Mabena. All puppetry and art featured within the video was fabricated by the performers.

This work was in progress showing was created over the course of a week during the 2021 National Puppetry Conference at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre. (Virtually via Zoom)

String Theory was created to explore the seeming disconnect between Black peoples of the African Diaspora and the art form known as puppetry. This work is an exploration of styles, sounds, stories, and the strings that make up our DNA and tie us to a history of ritual, animation, theatre, and object performance beyond what is usually perceived as "puppetry."

Choreography by Gerson Lanza, Original Musical Compositions by Lauren McCall, Sound Design by Nehprii Amenii OBS Design & Video Footage by Edwin Salas Acosta
Video Editing by Nehprii Amenii, Digital Animations by AeMachine and Andrzej Jobczyk

Music Credits:
