A stiff leg deadlift is performed by holding a weight (either a barbell, dumbbell or kettlebell) close to the body and then hinging at the hip while maintaining a SLIGHT bend in the knee. The knee is only slightly flexed to prevent it from locking out during the movement. Lower as far as you are able to without rounding the back or losing your balance. The back should be kept in neutral or slightly extended through the entire motion. Tight hamstrings may limit motion at the hip.
