Steve Mireau is a local artist who broke his neck neck on August 8th, 2007. The accident left him paralyzed from the upper chest down. His spinal cord was completely severed from a crushed C-6 vertebra, which left him with limited movement in the arms but no finger function. He has almost no sensation in his arms due to the nerve damage and spinal cord being severed at such a high location on the spine.The doctors told him that he would never walk again, and he would never be able to move his arms well enough in order to wheel a manual wheelchair. He has overcome many obstacles to be able to do the things he has always loved to do. Painting has become a daily thing in his life.
