Sleep paralysis (also called hypnagogic paralysis) is one of the most mysterious, fascinating and unpleasant phenomena of health Human. The state of fear and the feeling of helplessness generated by this disorder has given rise to legends about demons over time about alien abductions.

There are three different associated hallucinatory effects that can be experienced during the sleep paralysis phase. The presence of a stranger in the room, not necessarily human, than at first moment just stares at us in a disturbing way and then approaches more and more until they touch us. The feeling of a sense of pressure on the chest, as if someone was pushing hard on the ribcage holding our hands around our neck to make us suffocate.

This phenomenon was inexplicably found throughout the world, in the various centuries and with different variations, spread from Asia, Africa, Europe and America. Today in Italy, among the oldest families, especially in the Marche region, we speak of the "Sprovingolo".

This issue is addressed through the interactive video installation, using a VR (virtual reality) viewer. The artist proposes a digital animation video where a bedroom is recreated. In this virtual room the spectator has the opportunity to move his gaze and observe the scene at 360 °. The scene reconstructs the moment of sleep paralysis, where a "Sprovingolo" appears to visit. Having the opportunity to move only inside the room with the gaze and not with the body, the spectator will relive the sensation of paralysis. Audio will be involved and anguished, studied with a stereophonic system that will allow greater spatiality, increasing the spectator's curiosity to move in his limited action.
