A making of one of the shots I had the pleasure to animate in "Spring'' at the Blender Animation Studio

- Layout + Reference: As a first step in the process, I always like to analyze the layout and see how it fits in the context of the sequence and the story, also talking with the director. In this case it was a shot that was suppose to start building tension towards the chase scene that happens afterwards. So that became my main goal.
With that clear is time to get some reference and pretend to be a dog... =)

- Blocking: Here the shot already looks nice, all the beats of information are in. But getting there was a hard process of trial and error and feedback. I had to change the way Spring was standing up a couple of times, because of the camera angle and because it was not selling the urgency that was needed. But on this process Pablo Fournier came with the idea of her slipping while she stands up, that fitted the shot perfectly and it was added to the blocking.

- Spline: (Depression Phase), this is always painful, while everything is in blocking it looks nice and with weight, when you spline everything looks floaty and slow.

- Fun fact: In order for her to be able to use her short arms to stand up I had to hide the contact point of the hands, so they actually floating in the air. Similar thing with the place were the feet lands, I had to move them down in order to keep the head in the frame by the end of the shot.

- Final Animation: After a lot of work and time things got better, so I started with the hair animation and the final tweaks and polishing. And then... I had to let the shot go, because I had other shots to finish.... from this point the final lighting, fx and comp are done by other people
