Forms printed during the exhibition by a 3D printer are placed on a light table. The 256 forms of the film Digital Vocabulary are captured in their movement and printed using a 3D printer.
The virtual becomes real and is incarnated in forms. This transformation, from a digital to a solid state, is made possible by the translation of digital forms into a program that makes the elements editable. They are then arranged next to one another, following the organization of the original plates of the Language of Binary Images made by Woody Vasulka in 1978.
Through this constantly changing proposition, SLIDERS_lab is pursuing a critical work on the digital by questioning the logic underlying its writing and thus questioning the poetic power of this language.
Digital Vocabulary Sculpture is part of a series of works that consider the matrices of the Language of Binary Images as a kind of memory, an archaeology whose power should today be excavated.
