Essentially, skill mapping is the process of getting from where you are to where you want to be on the stage of work. If focuses on:

a. Knowing what you want,
b. figuring out the skills you have and those you need,
c. Devising a strategy to go from here to there,
d. Taking the right action in time.

You really cannot follow someone else’s path, you must create your own map into the future. And cannot rely on what occurred in the past. Increasingly, it is not a good predicator of the future due to rapidly evolving technologies such as artificial intelligence.

For today, more than any other time, your future depends on the expertise and skills you have.
