Here I began combing the relevant reading material while the Fool sat idly by painting some red clay bricks he'd found so that they each became a black cat on one end and a white mouse on the other.

"The Louvre underwent a major character change when Madison W. Cain bought it in 1930. Cain was a dancing teacher in the years prior to his purchase of the Louvre. The once bar went from stale cigar and beer smell to a dance hall. By 1933, Cains had what many called the worlds largest ballroom classes, with an enrollment of 555 and average attendance of 275" (Tulsa Tribune, Wednesday Dec. 10 1975). Daddy Cain charged ten cents an hour for dancing and practice. He had a vision to turn the once bar into a respectable dance academy. He renamed the ballroom to Cains Dance Academy.

The first major battle of the invasion took place on 3 June around the Shih-ch'iu-ling battery (Traditional Chinese: 獅球嶺砲台) overlooking the port city of Keelung. Eleven years earlier, during the Sino-French War, Chinese forces had bottled up a French expeditionary corps in Keelung for seven months, and the Shih-ch’iu-ling battery had been held against the French for most of the war. Now, in 1895, following a preliminary bombardment by the warships Matsushima, Oshima, Naniwa, Takachiho and Chiyoda, Colonel Kojima's 2nd Battalion, 1st Infantry Regiment routed the fort's garrison and captured the fort with little loss. The other coastal defence batteries—the Ta-sha-wan and Ehr-sha-wan batteries to the east of Keelung and a battery on Palm Island (modern-day Hoping Island)—hardly put up a struggle. Keelung was occupied on the afternoon of the same day, after the Qing commanders fled the city and left the garrison force leaderless.

From the reports in the Maltese press – including The Malta Times and United Services Gazette of March 14, 1864, L’Ordine of April 1, 1864, Il Mediterraneo of March 26, 1864, and Il Portafoglio Maltese of March 26, 1864 – one gets the impression that Garibaldi and his sons got a mixed reception.
The press comments varied from “illustrious traveller”, “the Italian hero and patriot and the most distinguished defender of liberty in Europe”, “the noble general”, “an honest and good man”, “the fountain-head of all that is noble and generous – an Italian lion” and l’eroe italiano” on the one hand, to completely opposite epithets, which included “un’avventuriero”, “nemico del papato, della Chiesa e del di lei Vicario, e quindi imicissimo ai Maltesi, essendo questi un popolo eminentemente cattolico”, and “il masnadiere”.
What actually happened was that, after Italian unification was accomplished in 1861, almost all the liberal refugees in Malta left to return to their homeland. However, their place was taken by their adversaries, mainly Sicilian adherents of the ousted Bourbon reigning family.

When he had three bricks at the ready, the Fool left them to dry a while, then started up a game of throwing them in the air spinning this way or that while he sounded out the combatants as the cat and mouse took turns chasing one another before coming to a thud somewhere on a large atlas he laid out, whereat he declared the chase complete and notified the relevant authorities with a flourish of his finger phone about a spat in action demanding urgent intervention.

Reported Activity: EMF activity and orbs caught in photos. Hot and cold spots have been felt. Lights turning on, off and dimming have been reported.
The investigation at Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa, OK on Nov. 3, 2008 went much better than I'd dared hope. The night was clear, with a stout breeze gusting to 20 MPH and a temperature of 73 degrees made for a perfect setting. All team members were on time and well prepared to look into the reports of paranormal activity at the Cain's that have been the talk of the town for many years.
After setting up our base of operations, an interview was conducted with the Cain's manager, Brad Harris. Mr. Harris was not only helpful, co-operative, and informative regarding the history of Cain's Ballroom, but was also a witness to many unexplained events here. He was admittedly a "middle of the road" person as far as belief in ghosts went, stating he had no strong beliefs either way. His own experiences were described as visual and auditory in nature, most visual sightings being peripheral, and often discounted by him. His position as manager did place him in a position where stories from others, including staff members, flowed to him. He was gracious enough to share them with us.
Reported activity included:
Full bodied apparitions, disembodied voices, multiple voices, feelings of being "watched," giggling, singing, and cold spots.
