This small “signature” was an experiment in identifying work for a commission, a 6x10 foot painting that lives in Las Vegas at the Aria Casino and Resort.
The process of melting is about so much more than deconstruction of painted objects. I’m at a stage in my practice where the shedding of old ways of being makes sense. I am proud of the work but also know, from lots of experience, that the best way to move forward is to really analyze and critique and then let go of that which no longer serves the greater good. That this studio work is concurrent with a massive social movement of awakening and change, of which I am an active part, gives gravity and deep meaning to the simple act of showing up, paying attention, and getting busy.
