Seven Steps to Feeling More Alive
Yes, I know, seven steps are far too many in one go, we’ll fall over! So, choose one as the first step if you like any of what we share today. In Biology I learned the pattern for life. Not so much DNA as a simpler map of the seven aspects of all living things.
They move
They feed
They reproduce
They excrete (I know, yuk! But such is life!)
They grow
They breathe
They are sensitive
All seven have to be present and active for us to be truly alive.
A leaf dancing in the wind has movement but if it has become separated from the branch, is it really alive?
Seven simple ways to feel more alive can be taken by choosing to amplify your activity in each of the seven aspects.
Here are seven suggestions…
Movement
If you move a bit more today, you’ll feel more alive. This is a continuum, not an absolute – so it doesn’t matter how much mobility you have or lack – it’s just a question of moving a tiny bit more. I’m not asking you to dance – though that might be fun. I ‘bounce’ rather than dance – up and down in the kitchen – where nobody is looking – to my two favourite bouncy happy songs:

Nutrition
Treat yourself to some good nutrition today – you’ll feel more alive!
Reproduction
Reproduce your best learning by sharing it with someone else – teach someone something.
Excretion
Let go of something – a feeling, a bit of stuff, a relationship that is toxic. Say, “No!”
Growth
Learn something new.
Respiration
Get some fresh air – even if it is opening a window and breathing in deeply.
Sensitivity
Listen to someone more deeply today. Open your eyes and notice something new in your surroundings. Listen to your heart.
And above all – connect. Share a comment with your own suggestions on one or more of the seven aspects. Phone a friend. Write that letter.
Above all, live Life more abundantly.
