Screensaver Series is a performance and research project created by choreographer Janine Harrington, who was inspired by the obsolete screen-saving programmes of early computing. The live work is a kaleidoscopic dance and sound installation which explores attention as activity within “inactivity,” much like meditation or hypnosis.
The perpetual movement references the natural world, care-taking and metamorphosis, and has been developed through a poetic score practised by the dancers. A project of three parts, Screensaver Series also encompasses film and digital iterations currently in development and a performance lecture. This short look is the meeting point between the live work and the longer film, and is the first collaboration between Janine Harrington and filmmaker Roswitha Chesher.
